Training Lab Setup

This section of the Training page instructs technicians on the creation of a CDEMS training environment for "hands-on" instruction in a computer lab setting. IMPORTANT: Microsoft Access (version 97, 2k versions 2003 or lower, or Access 2007) is required to run the CDEMS programs.

Download the CDEMS training folder that corresponding to the Microsoft Access version available on your computers. To download, double-click on the appropriate CDEMS Training file and save to the C: drive on your computer. After the compressed file is downloaded, navigate to the CDEMS Training folder and double-click on the file > click Extract > click Self-Extract > Execute to uncompress.

Test operation and linking by double-clicking on the cdem_DataEntry_3-31-08.mdb program file within the Training folder. Note: the Data Entry program and Reports programs both link to the cdem_training_dta.mdb file. The opening screen should display the Healthy Body Clinic with several patients listed. Close the data entry program and test the reports program (rpts_6-20-07) in the same way.

Shortcuts may be created on classroom computer desktops to the Data Entry and Reports programs. Rename the cdem_3-31-08 shortcut "CDEMS Data Entry" and rename the rpt_6-20-07 shortcut "CDEMS Reports." If you want to get fancy, change the icon for each shortcut to a "green tree". Test the shortcuts. That's all there is to it! Please call Jackie at 1-800-478-3563 (WA only) or 916-817-1401 if you have questions...
